ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Asia’s first-ever e-passport service will start in Pakistan from March 23, 2022.

While addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday to launch four important initiatives by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports including revamping Online Passport Facility, Fast Track Delivery Service At Zonal Offices, up-gradation of the website of Director General of Immigration and Passports, and the inauguration of its Official Logo, the minister said that the online facility will enable people get their passports at home without travelling and waiting in queues at passport offices.

The interior minister said that the passport delivery service has been revamped and now one can get it within 24 hours. He said that the online passport service is being provided in 191 Countries.

Sheikh Rashid said that the online facility is also being given for renunciation of citizenship and getting emergency travel documents.

In addition, he said that we are fully focusing on the National Action Plan (NAP) and stern action will be taken against those who are defaming the Country internationally.

The minister said that 10 million Overseas Pakistanis across the world are happy with the government’s initiative of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the government is fully focused to further facilitate them as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also said that 2,000 police personnel will be recruited to strengthen the Islamabad police force.
