WASHINGTON: In what is widely being conjectured as it would shape the future course of Pakistan-US bilateral relations, Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet the US President Donald Trump at White House in Washington today (Monday).

The two leaders would be face to face for the first time since both of them took over the realm of their respective Countries.

The talks will mark an effort by the two leaders to reset ties between Pakistan and the United States.

Besides deliberating upon ways to further consolidate Pak-US cooperation especially in trade and investment, the discussion between Imran Khan and Donald Trump will also focus on the Afghan peace process and other issues of mutual interest.

Imran Khan in his talks with the US top leadership will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, his Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razzaq Dawood, and his Special Assistant on Overseas Zulfikar Bukhari.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will also be accompanying the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, as per the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, the COAS will be part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s delegation during a meeting with the US President Donald Trump at the White House.

In a tweet, he said the Army Chief will also visit Pentagon to interact with the Acting Secretary Defense Richard Spencer, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford and the Chief of Staff of US Army General Mark A Milley.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
