KARACHI, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday stressed the need for collective efforts to persuade the youth against mingling with proscribed organizations.

In reply to a question while talking to media at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Monday about the new militant outfit Ansar-ul-Sharia Pakistan and reported rise in the interest of local youth towards proscribed organizations, Ahsan Iqbal said a collective approach was underway to address the situation.

The minister said the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other institutions of higher education were on board with equal attention towards revision in educational curriculum of secondary and higher school levels.

Ahsan Iqbal also said that the Ministry of Interior along with other relevant ministries were in process of holding Youth Conference in Islamabad very soon which would help start a culture of knowledge based capacity building and leadership skills among the young participants.

Furthermore, the minister said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was strongly committed to efficient implementation of National Action Plan (NAP). He said NAP has emerged as an efficient tool to help eliminate sectarianism and bigotry in the Country.

“We in close coordination with provincial governments have managed to bring under control law and order situation across the country,” he said.

However, he added, the Country was presently exposed to several other extremely serious challenges and that all measures were being adopted to counter these,” said the interior minister.
