oil and gas reservoirs - The National Assembly was told on Monday that a total of 90 discoveries of oil and gas were made in the Country during last five years. In a written reply to a question by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker Muhammad Aslam Khan, the Minister for Petroleum Division Omar Ayub Khan told the House that 69 discoveries of oil and gas were made in Sindh, 10 in Punjab, 8 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 3 in Balochistan. Providing the year-wise details of the oil and gas reservoirs discovered in the Country during the last five years, the minister told that 12 discoveries were made in 2015, 24 in 2016, 17 in 2017, 22 in 2018, 12 in 2019, and 3 in 2020. To another question by Salahuddin Ayubi of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Pakistan (MMAP), the minister told that there is no proposal to supply gas for Balochistan’s Chaman City at this time. Omar Ayub said that the projects are unfeasible in terms of laying of network and its cost and would require the government funding. Furthermore, the minister apprised the House that currently, there is no shortage of petrol in the Country.

To another question by Salahuddin Ayubi of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Pakistan (MMAP), the minister told that there is no proposal to supply gas for Balochistan’s Chaman City at this time.
