ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by the Indian Security Forces along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in martyrdom of four security personnel of Pakistan.

Earlier, four soldiers of Pakistan army embraced martyrdom in unprovoked Indian firing along the LoC in Jandrot-Kotli Sector, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The troops were busy in Line communication maintenance when they were fired upon and hit by heavy mortar round. Three Indian soldiers were also killed and a few others injured in the exchange of fire.

In a statement, the prime minister condemned the Indian firing, and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the security personnel for the motherland.

The Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former President Asif Ali Zardari also strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by the Indian troops along the LoC, and expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyred Pakistani Soldiers.

Last Friday, Pakistan summoned the acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad to register its protest over continued Indian ceasefire violations along the LoC and Working Boundary, saying that Indian forces have carried out more than 70 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary in just 12 days this year.

“This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1900 ceasefire violations,” the Foreign Office said.
