Ghazi murder case: Musharraf's plea seeking exemption from court appearance rejected

ISLAMABAD: An additional sessions court on Saturday rejected the application of former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for permanent exemption from personal appearance in the court in Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case.

The Islamabad’s additional sessions court judge Wajid Ali was hearing the case, during which the counsel of Musharraf presented his arguments saying that his client faced death threats, adding that he was targeted in an attack two days earlier as a result of which he could not appear in court.

The counsel of Musharraf said that his client sought exemption from appearing in the court. The court granted him exemption from appearance in today’s hearing but dismissed the former president’s request seeking permanent exemption from attendance in the case’s hearings.

The court ordered the former president to appear on the next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case until May 3.
