Gas supply to parts of Punjab suspended after pipeline blown up in Dera Bugti

QUETTA, Pakistan: A 24-inch gas pipeline was blown up by the militants in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan on Tuesday morning, causing the suspension of gas supply to some areas of Punjab.

The Quetta police said that the militants had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) close to the gas pipeline in Doli area of Dera Bugti district which went-off with a big bang and blew up the gas pipeline.

Subsequently, gas supply to some areas of Punjab was suspended after the blast, police added.

The Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and the Levies force reached the spot and cordoned off the area to launch a probe into the incident.

Separately, unknown miscreants blew up a railway track in the Mashkaf area of Balochistan’s Bolan district on Tuesday. However, no casualties were reported.

The Levies sources said that miscreants had planted explosive materials close to the railway track in the Mashkaf area which went off with a big bang.

Meanwhile, passenger trains were stopped in Quetta to avoid any untoward incident.

The technical staff was immediately rushed to the site to repair the damaged portion of the track.
