PESHAWAR: Deputy Commandant of Frontier Reserve Police was injured in firing incident on Thursday while his driver and security guard succumbed to injuries.

According to police sources, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the deputy commandant’s vehicle in Gulbahar area of the city on Thursday in which his driver and security guard were killed.

“The deputy commander of Frontier Reserve Police Gul Wali Khan was going to his office from home when four people on two motorbikes lay in wait on both sides of the road,” police official Imran Shahid said.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for the main government-run Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar said the commander was in a critical condition.
