ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will visit Kabul on September 14 at the invitation of his Afghan Counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani.

It would be his first official visit to a foreign Country since Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government assumed the power in the Centre last month.

During his visit, Shah Mahmood Qureshi will hold meetings with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, and the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani.

The diplomatic sources said that the foreign minister will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral issues from bilateral ties, Pak-Afghan border, and Afghan peace to regional security.

Salahuddin Rabbani extended an invitation to Qureshi for undertaking a visit to Kabul when the two foreign ministers held telephonic conversation on September 3.

During that conversation, they discussed the recent deteriorated security situation which led the closure of Pakistan’s Consulate General in Jalalabad, the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) process, and the Afghan peace initiatives. In addition, they also discussed the proposed Joint Pak-Afghan Ulema Conference.
