Foreign OfficeSartaj urges OIC to raise voice against discriminatory policies towards Muslims

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Monday said that Organization of Islamic Cooperating (OIC) must raise voice and take strong stance against discriminatory policies and violence towards Muslim minorities all over the World.

While speaking at the Joint Press Stakeout with the OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Ahmad Al-Othaimeen in Islamabad on Monday following a meeting in which they had a detailed exchange of views on matters of mutual interest, the adviser said the during the meeting, he assured the OIC Secretary General of Pakistan’s continued active engagement with the OIC and commitment to promote the legitimate causes of Ummah including their unconditional support to the people of Palestine.

Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan was thankful to the OIC and brotherly Muslim countries for supporting the early realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The adviser told that he had briefed the OIC Secretary General on the worst form of state terrorism which was being carried out by Indian occupation forces in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“We agree on the need for solidarity and unity in the Muslim world,” Sartaj Aziz said.

“We must work together to combat Islamophobia and the rising incidents of hatred and hostility against Muslims as well as formulate joint Islamic action against the publication of blasphemous material including on social media,” he added.

In his remarks, the OIC Secretary General said that Organization of Islamic Cooperation was in full agreement with Pakistan over peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He said that the OIC had same position as that of Pakistan on issues of Kashmir, Palestine, Islamophobia and plight of Muslim Communities in non-Muslim Countries.

The OIC Secretary General said that the OIC condemned all terrorist acts in Pakistan or any other Country. He said that terrorism was terrorism and it had no race or religion.

“We condemn terrorism no matter where it happens in the world as Islamic is religion of peace and co-existence,” he said.

The OIC Secretary General said that the two sides had vowed to work closely on all issues facing the Muslim Ummah.

In reply to a question, Dr. Yousef Ahmad Al-Othaimeen said that Kashmir had always been on top of the agenda of the OIC. He said that the OIC had been urging India to provide access to Occupied Kashmir but unfortunately India had declined to accede to the request.
