ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi left for Kabul on Saturday morning to participate in the second Pakistan-China-Afghanistan trilateral dialogue being held in Afghanistan’s Capital.

The Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad also accompanied the foreign minister as he traveled to Kabul.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi will meet the Chinese and the Afghan leadership during the visit.

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani are representing their respective Countries in the trilateral talks to discuss peace as well as economic and counterterrorism cooperation.

Talking to media before his departure to Kabul, Qureshi welcomed the Chinese initiative of holding the trilateral dialogue.

The foreign minister said that both Pakistan and China desire peace, stability, prosperity and development in Afghanistan. He said that we are carrying the message of friendship and peace to Afghanistan.

The foreign minister stressed that peace is imperative to take forward the region on the path of sustainable development.

The first foreign ministerial meeting as part of the Pakistan-China-Afghanistan trilateral dialogue was held in Beijing on December 26, 2017.
