During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters pertaining to promoting trade and economic relations amongst the organization’s member Countries.

With Istanbul as its headquarters, the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation was formed in 1996 with objectives to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.

Its members include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, and Turkey.

In November 2012, Pakistan hosted the D-8 Summit in Islamabad.
