ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that promotion of trade relations amongst the member Countries of the D-8 (Developing Eight) is need of the hour.
In a meeting with the D-8 Secretary General Dato Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari in Islamabad on Wednesday, the foreign minister said that for the promotion of trade among D-8 Countries, we will have to implement agreements regarding Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), Visa and Customs as soon as possible.

Qureshi urged implementation of agreements among D-8 Countries
During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters pertaining to promoting trade and economic relations amongst the organization’s member Countries.

With Istanbul as its headquarters, the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation was formed in 1996 with objectives to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
Its members include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, and Turkey.
In November 2012, Pakistan hosted the D-8 Summit in Islamabad.
