LAHORE, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan will undertake an official tour to Russia wherein he will attend the Meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), an international forum held in September every year since 2015 in the Russian City of Vladivostok, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.
Imran Khan will attend the EEF meeting on the invitation of the Russian President Vladimir Putin which he extended when the two leaders met informally at the recently held 19th Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) Council of the Heads of State in Bishkek, said the Foreign Office Sources on Saturday.
The Eastern Economic Forum seeks to encourage foreign investment in the Russian Far East.
Key objectives of EEF;
- Strengthening ties between the international investment community, Russian business, and federal, regional, and local government bodies
- Conducting a comprehensive expert assessment of the economic potential of the Russian Far East and improving the region’s competitiveness and attractiveness to investors both nationally and internationally
- Showcasing new investment and business opportunities such as advanced special economic zones, Vladivostok Free Port, and state support for high-potential investment projects
