ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended heartfelt condolences on the passing away of the former Premier of China Li Peng.
The former Chinese Prime Minister Li Peng passed away on Monday evening at the age of 90 in Beijing of an unspecified illness.

In a statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Li Peng played a great role in the development and prosperity of China and for peace in the region.
Imran Khan said that Li was a true friend and supporter of Pakistan who would always be remembered for his outstanding contributions for strengthening of traditional bonds of friendship between Pakistan and China.
Li Peng, Imran Khan said, was instrumental in setting the foundations for a comprehensive and broad based relationship between Pakistan and China.
Li served in several top positions in China in the 1980s and 1990s, but he was best known as the “Butcher of Beijing” for his role in the Tiananmen Square crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in 1989.
