ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A woman was martyred while four civilians suffered injuries as a result of unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Foreign Office said that an innocent civilian lady Rehmat Jan – wife of Muhammad Din and a resident of village Mandhar – embraced martyrdom when the Indian forces opened fire in Nezapir Sector along the LoC.

Three civilians including 30-year old Muhammad Naeem – son of Muhammad Fareed, 30-year old Zainab Bibi – wife of Muhammad Bashir, 57-year old Zainab Bibi – wife of Muhammad Bashir and a resident of Kirni village, and 30-year old Begum Jan – wife of Muhammad Qasim and resident of Mandhar village sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Separately, 28 year-old Munir Hussain – the son of Muhammad Din and a resident of Katchar village – suffered injuries as a result of Indian firing in Kailer Sector along the LoC.

Meanwhile, the Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr. Mohammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Gaurav Ahluwalia today and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the LoC.

The Director General (SA & SAARC) urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate these and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.

Dr Faisal urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

It is worth mentioning that earlier on July 22-23, two persons including a 12-year boy and a woman were martyred besides four further civilians having received injuries when the Indian forces resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations in Bagsar, Hotspring, Jandrot and Banchirian Sectors along the LoC.
