ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Vietnam on Friday underlined the need to further deepen the bilateral relationship through frequent high level visits.
The understanding was reached when the 2nd Round of the Pakistan-Vietnam Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Islamabad on Friday, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
During the talks, the Pakistan side was led by the Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while the Vietnamese delegation was led by the Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy.
The two sides evaluated the current state of Pakistan-Vietnam bilateral cooperation and identified further areas of mutual interest and cooperation including economy, commerce, trade and investment, defense, education, culture and sports.
They also expressed satisfaction at their cooperation in multilateral fora and agreed to continue and further strengthen cooperation at the United Nations through support for each other’s candidatures.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
The foreign secretary briefed the Vietnamese side on Pakistan-India relations and human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The Vietnamese deputy foreign minister underscored Pakistan’s role as a regional power and appreciated Pakistan’s economic development.
