ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held comprehensive talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Monday.

The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is on an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of his Pakistani Counterpart.

The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, defence and security domains.

They also assessed preparations for the upcoming 7th Session of Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) to be held in Islamabad in the near future.

Ishaq Dar appreciated Türkiye’s firm and consistent support for the oppressed people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the legitimate rights of the people of Northern Cyprus.

The two foreign ministers also discussed regional and global developments, especially the ongoing genocide and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

They stressed the need for urgent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of urgent humanitarian relief for the besieged Palestinian people.

They reiterated the imperative for the creation of an independent Palestinian state for lasting peace in the Middle East.

The two leaders also discussed the need to combat Islamophobia and stressed the urgency of addressing it in a holistic manner.

Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy special bonds of friendship and brotherhood rooted in history, culture and religion. Regular dialogue and exchange of high-level visits are the hallmark of Pakistan-Türkiye robust bilateral relations.

His Royal Highnes conveyed his heartfelt acknowledgement to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for the participation of Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising JF-17 Block-III fighter jets alongside air and ground crew in the Bahrain International Airshow. Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
