ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Thursday summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces earlier in the day.

Earlier in the morning, the Indian forces carried out unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Battal, Jandrot and Kotli Sectors, resulting in Shahadat of two civilians and injuries to five others including three women.

Later Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned at the Foreign Office in Islamabad by the Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr. Muhammad Faisal.

The Indian Deputy High Commissioner was told that the deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable, and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws.

The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC.

The unprovoked firing took place by the Indian forces at 07:15 am on Thursday which resulted in deaths of Ghizar Ahmed and Fazal Hussain. The firing also caused injuries to Jamil Akmal, Sana, Asma, Fareha and Jamil Ahmed.
