ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the suspected terrorist attack in Manchester City which claimed many innocent lives.
Earlier in the day, at least 22 persons were killed while 59 others sustained injuries when an explosion hit Manchester Arena where the US singer Ariana Grande had been performing. Though the cause of the blast was still officially unknown but according to Prime Minister Theresa May, it was a terrorist attack.
“We strongly condemn terrorist incident in Manchester that caused loss of 19 precious human lives and injured scores,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in a statement in Islamabad on Monday.
The Spokesman said that “Pakistan expresses solidarity with the government and people of United Kingdom, and offers condolences to the bereaved families and pray for recovery of injured.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the British government and people against all forms of terrorism.
In a statement, he condemned the explosion in Manchester resulting in death of innocent people.
The prime minister said that elimination of terrorism requires concerted efforts and any such act targeted towards innocent people is highly condemnable.
While condemning Manchester blast, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives.
“The more we condemn the incident of terrorist attack is less. All our sympathies are with the British government and people,” Shahbaz Sharif said.
Shahbaz Sharif said that terrorism has become an international scourge, adding that together we will have to take steps to eliminate terrorism.
The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan also condemned Manchester attack and extended condolence to the victims.
“Strongly condemn shocking Manchester Arena concert attack targeting innocent youth. Prayers for the families of victims & the injured,” Imran Khan said in a tweet.

The Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while condemning Manchester blast said that crushing the terrorism is the responsibility of the whole world.
Bilawal said that the International community should come closer and stand up for the elimination of terrorism. He said that Pakistani people express complete solidarity with the British people.
