ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul which resulted in the loss of several precious lives and injuries to many others.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered in this tragedy,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Friday. “We are relieved that the leadership has remained unharmed.”

The statement said that Pakistan has consistently supported a negotiated political solution of the Afghan conflict.

“This is a historic juncture. Pakistan urges all the parties to work together in a constructive spirit for establishing durable peace and stability in Afghanistan,” it added.

At least 27 people were killed and further 52 suffered injuries when gunmen attacked a Ceremony in Kabul held to mark the anniversary of the death of an ethnic Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari.

The Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah was also present in the Ceremony but he escaped unharmed.
