ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has strongly condemned the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) chargesheet against Asiya Andrabi, a Kashmiri separatist and the founding leader of Dukhtaran-e-Millat.

Last Wednesday, the Indian NIA filed a chargesheet against Asiya Andrabi and her two associates Sofi Fehmeeda and Naheeda Nasreen for allegedly carrying out an anti-India propaganda on social media and other internet platforms.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said that “Pakistan strongly condemns the farcical Indian NIA chargesheet against Asiya Andrabi.”

Dr Faisal said that continuing Indian attempts to label the legitimate Kashmiri struggle for self-determination as terrorism have failed miserably.

“Continuing Indian incarceration of Kashmiri leaders on baseless charges violates the human rights charter & makes a mockery of Indian claims of being a “democracy”. Asiya Andrabi is incarcerated while Syed Ali Gilani was allowed out of house arrest after 8 years,” he said.

The Spokesperson said that India needs to accept the reality of its failure to try to label every Kashmiri from women to old men and children as a militant or terrorist.

Dr Mohammad Faisal further said that we call upon the International Community to expedite establishment of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) as recommended in Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and UK Parliament’s All-Party Parliamentary Kashmir Group (APPKG) reports.
