ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria on Tuesday said Pakistan had serious concerns over the presence and role of arch-rivals India in Afghanistan.

In the recently unveiled new US policy for Afghanistan, the US President Doland Trump sought more India’s contribution particularly economically for Afghanistan’s development.

Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV) in Islamabad, the Spokesman said India was involved in funding outfit organizations grouping in Afghanistan to disturb peace of Pakistan.

Zakaria said restoration of peace in Afghanistan was imperative to bring progress and prosperity for the people of the region.

Currently, the Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif is undertaking back-to-back tours to various Countries after he hinted paradigm shift in Pakistan’s Foreign Policy. So far Asif has visited China, Iran and Turkey, where he underlined the need for political dialogue to guarantee Afghan peace.

The Foreign Office Spokesman said Pakistan and China had also agreed that military solution was not the solution for Afghanistan. He said collective efforts would be needed to maintain peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Afghanistan.

Nafees Zakaria further said that Pakistan had made great efforts for Afghan refugees, education and other social sector development projects besides peace in the region.

The Spokesman said Pakistan was imparting education to one million Afghan children, adding that the children after education were also taking part in the development works of Afghanistan.
