ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Voicing serious concerns over media reports about the brutal killing of a Pakistani prisoner by Indian inmates in Jaipur Jail, Pakistan has asked India to urgently authenticate such reports.
“Pakistan is gravely concerned at media reports regarding the brutal killing of a Pakistani Prisoner, Mr. Shakir Ullah, imprisoned in Jaipur Central Jail,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Shakir Ullah was reportedly beaten to death by a group of Indian inmates in retaliation of the Pulwama incident.
The Foreign Office said that our High Commission in New Delhi has officially raised the issue with the Indian authorities requesting them to urgently authenticate the report and awaits a response.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office added that we call upon the Indian government to fulfill its obligations and ensure provision of foolproof security to all Pakistani inmates/prisoners in Indian Jails and Pakistani visitors to India.
As per The Hindi, an Indian daily newspaper, the deceased Pakistani prisoner belonged to Sialkot, and he was languished in the Jail for his alleged involvement in a terror-related case in Jaipur, the Capital City of Indian northern Rajasthan State, in 2017.
Shakir Ullah or Shakoorullah, as Indian media named him, reportedly received serious injuries in his head caused by a blunt object after an altercation with some inmates.
