ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office has rejected the Indian contentions regarding Pakistan on Financial Action Task Force (FATF)-related matter, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.
“We regard the statement issued by India regarding the FATF report as preposterous and unwarranted,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Saturday.
“If anything, this is yet another evidence of India’s relentless efforts to politicize the deliberations of FATF for its narrow, partisan objectives.”
The statement said that Pakistan has consistently shared its concerns on this account with the FATF chair and members in the past and drawn their attention to high level political statements and media leaks from India to cast Pakistan in a negative light and plead for Pakistan’s downgrading.
“We hope the broader FATF membership would take cognizance of this continuing malicious campaign and reject any attempt aimed at politicization of the FATF process by India,” it further added.
It is pertinent to mention that the Financial Action Task Force during its recent plenary meeting at Orlando, United States, acknowledged the steps taken by Pakistan to improve its counter financing terrorism regime and highlighted the need for further actions for implementing the action plan.
