ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office has said that Pakistan is ready to extend humanitarian support to Iran in rescue efforts, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

So far 70 persons have reportedly lost their lives while thousands further have been displaced since March after flash floods played havoc in northern and southwestern parts of Iran.

“People of Pakistan stand in solidarity with their brethren in Iran at this difficult time,” said the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal in a tweet on Monday.

“Pained by continuing devastation & loss of life caused by flash floods in Iran. Our deepest condolences to families of those who died and are injured,” Dr Faisal said.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan also in a twitter message offered Iran to provide full humanitarian assistance required to deal with unprecedented flooding.

“Out of 31 provinces, almost 24 provinces have been impacted by the severe rainfall,” the Director of International Relations at the Iranian Red Crescent Society Mansoureh Bagheri.

As per the Iranian government agencies, floods have destroyed over 25,000 homes around the Country.
