ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Kuwait have agreed on a roadmap of engagements, upgrading the bilateral relations across all spheres with a particular focus on strengthening the Economic Diplomacy footprint.
The understanding was reached in delegation-level talks led by the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of Kuwait His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday.
In his remarks, Qureshi laid emphasis on working closely to strengthen and diversify the Pakistan-Kuwait bilateral relationship.
“We are bonded by faith & value, and our close collaboration has deepened during the COVID-19 pandemic on health and food security,” he said.
The foreign minister said that Pakistan is desirous to increase the volume of bilateral trade with Kuwait. He said that we are looking forward to the early convening of the fifth Joint Ministerial Commission between Pakistan and Kuwait.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that there are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two Countries in the areas of energy, technology, health, education, and defense.
The minister said that more than 100,000 Pakistanis living in Kuwait are playing a positive role in the development of the Country.
Qureshi said that Pakistan has transformed its geopolitical priorities into geo-economic priorities.
The foreign minister said that Pakistan is facilitating the foreign investment in different sectors of the economy. He said that we also welcome Kuwaiti investment in the Country.
Moreover, he also apprised the Kuwaiti foreign minister about the prevailing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He said that India has brought controversial legislation to change the demographic structure of the disputed territory.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is looking towards the positive role of the world community including that of Kuwait to get freed the oppressed Kashmiri people from the cruel Indian clutches. He thanked Kuwait for supporting the Kashmir resolution passed by the OIC foreign ministers at its meeting in Niger.
The minister also said that the world recognizes the positive role being played by Pakistan in the Afghan peace process. He said that Pakistan will continue its efforts for peace in Afghanistan and the region.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah said that his Country wants to promote economic relations with Pakistan. He commended the contributions of the Pakistani Community in Kuwait in the development of the Country.
