COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: Pakistan has expressed its desire to expand the bilateral trade relations with Sri Lanka.

The desire was conveyed by the Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena whom she met in Colombo on Tuesday.

The foreign secretary also highlighted the immense goodwill for Sri Lanka in Pakistan which continues to encourage us to further strengthen and deepen our bilateral relations.Pakistan keen to expand trade ties with Sri Lanka: Tehmina Janjua

The Sri Lankan president said that these feelings were reciprocal in Sri Lanka for Pakistan, and he looked forward to deepen and broaden the interaction with Pakistan.

Tehmina Janjua is in Colombo on a two-day official visit from October 17-18 to take part in the 5th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Besides, the foreign secretary will also hold separate meetings with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana.

During her two-day stay in Colombo, Tehmina Janjua will also launch the “Pakistan Alumni Society of Sri Lanka”.

Her visit would further contribute in bolstering the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
