JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday to attend the meeting of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers being held in Makkah, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The foreign minister was received at the King Abdulaziz International Airport by the Chief of Protocol at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jamal Nasir, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz and the Consul General of Pakistan in Jeddah Shehryar Akbar Khan.

The Officials of the Saudi Royal Protocol were also present on the occasion.

Earlier talking to media before his departure to Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the meeting will finalize agenda of the OIC Summit being held on Friday in Makkah. He said that situation of Middle East will also be discussed in the meeting.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he will also talk to his other Counterparts and the OIC’s Secretary General on the sidelines of the meeting.

The foreign minister said that a Session of Kashmir Contact Group is also expected, where its members will present their viewpoint.

Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will represent Pakistan in the 14th OIC Summit being hosted by Saudi Arabia.

It may be added that the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is hosting the 14th OIC summit in Makkah.

The OIC summit, which is titled “Makkah Summit: Together for the Future” is aimed at developing a unified stance on events in the Islamic world.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
