ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: On 73rd United Nations Anniversary, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has lauded the role of 193-member World Body, saying that it has played valuable role in the eradication of poverty and the establishment of peace (73rd United Nations Anniversary).

While addressing a Ceremony held at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Wednesday in connection with the day, Qureshi said that the role of United Nations in the field of health and environment is also praiseworthy.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has a key role in the establishment of peace and security in the World. He said that troops of Pakistan’s security forces have been working worldwide to establish peace.

The foreign minister said that cooperation in multilateral sectors is an important pillar of our foreign policy. He said that Pakistan is ready to partner any global efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and the World at large.

Furthermore, the minister said that we appreciate the UN report against Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. However, he urged the United Nations to play its due role in resolving the decades old Kashmir dispute as per its own resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people.

Qureshi asked the World Body to send a commission of inquiry to probe human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces as documented in the UN Human Rights Commission’s report.

The event was attended by diplomats and foreign representatives.
