DOHA, Qatar: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his Tajik Counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Doha on Saturday, and discussed the Pakistan-Tajikistan bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Both were in the Qatari Capital Doha among representatives and foreign ministers from 50 Countries to witness the signing ceremony of the historic peace deal between the United States and the Afghan Taliban that will end the almost two-decade-long war in Afghanistan.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on the Afghan peace process.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan values its relations with Tajikistan, and he will soon undertake a visit to the Central Asian States.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan is desirous to expand its trade ties with the Central Asian States. He said that close trade relations with the Central Asian States are vital for Pakistan’s development.

Qureshi said that not just the Country, rather Pakistan believes in the development of the entire region.

Qureshi meets Indonesian foreign minister

Separately, Shah Mahmood Qureshi also met the Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Doha ahead of the peace signing agreement between the US and the Afghan Taliban.

During the meeting, they discussed matters pertaining to the Afghan peace process, continuing violence against Muslims in India, and the overall regional peace and security situation.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating the Afghan peace process.

FM assures Pakistan’s continued support for Afghan peace & stability

Similarly in his meeting with the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan hopes for intra-Afghan dialogue after today’s deal.

The foreign minister said that Afghanistan will be required assistance of the International Community for reconciliation and rehabilitation. He assured that Pakistan will continue its efforts for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.
