ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has said that it is deeply saddened over the loss of precious lives resulting from an earthquake in western Afghanistan.
On January 17, an earthquake with a 5.3 magnitude struck Qadis district of Afghanistan’s Badghis province, leaving 26 people dead and several further people injured in addition to damaging more than 700 homes.
“We are deeply saddened at the earthquake that struck Badghis province in the western part of Afghanistan on 17 January that resulted in the loss of many precious lives as well as the destruction of property,” the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said on Tuesday.
The Spokesperson said that the government and people of Pakistan convey their heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones, and also pray for the early recovery of those injured in this earthquake.
