ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Wednesday expressed deep concern over media reports of a missile attack by Houthi militia at the Southwestern Border of Saudi Arabia.

On Monday, the Saudi air defense forces destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi militias at Khamis Mushait, a City in Asir Province.

“We are deeply concerned over media reports of a missile attack by Houthi militia towards Khamis Mushait,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

The statement said that the timely interception by the Saudi air defense saved the civilian populated city from grave consequences. It said that such attacks targeting the unarmed civilian population are a violation of international law and condemnable.

“Pakistan denounces the repeated missile attacks on Saudi territory by Houthi militia,” it added.

The statement also said that these attacks pose a threat to the security of the Kingdom and the Holy Places.

“Pakistan reiterates its solidarity with the government and people of the Saudi Arabia and renews its commitment to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as to protect its Holy Places,” the statement further said.
