ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the Pakistan-China relationship has turned into an all-weather cooperative partnership which is an anchor for peace and stability of the region.

In his address at a Virtual Ceremony held in Islamabad on Tuesday to mark the 70th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, Qureshi said that both Countries have built their relationship around mutual trust and respect.

The minister said that the multifaceted and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China is stronger than ever. He said that the two sides are coordinating at multi-lateral and regional fora and support each other on the basis of their core interests.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is looking forward to receive the Chinese President Xi Jinping this year, adding that we believe this visit will further elevate the bilateral relationship.

The foreign minister said that our two Countries have fine traditions of standing by each other in difficult times.

Qureshi thanked the Chinese government for donating 500,000 doses of anti-COVID vaccine and other equipment to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. He also applauded the Chinese President’s vision of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The year 2021 marks the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China established on May 21, 1951.

To formally commence the 70th anniversary celebrations, a Virtual Ceremony has simultaneously been held in Islamabad and Beijing today.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi have led the Ceremony on their respective sides.

Both Countries are organizing a series of events throughout the year to commemorate this historic milestone in a befitting manner.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Islamabad has released a special video documentary marking celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Pakistan-China’s long-lasting friendship.

The short video highlights different aspects of the Pakistan-China friendship that is higher than the Himalayas, deeper than oceans, and sweeter than honey.
