ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has appointed 18 new diplomats for its Overseas Missions, including Khalid Jamali who has been named as its Ambassador to the Czech Republic, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Talking to media in Islamabad, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that 18 important appointments have been made today (Monday) to fill vacant posts in Pakistan’s Overseas Missions following a detailed consultations with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

As per the announcement, following diplomats have been appointed in Pakistan’s Overseas Missions;

  • Naghmana Hashmi has been appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador in Beijing (China)
  • Moin Ul Haque in New Delhi (India)
  • Additional Secretary Imtiaz Ahmad in Tokyo (Japan)
  • Zaheer Janjua in Brussels (Belgium)
  • Additional Secretary Amna Baloch in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
  • Javed Khattak in Lisbon (Portugal)
  • Saqlain Syeda in Nairobi (Kenya)
  • Rukhsana Afzal in Singapore
  • Ataul Munim Shahid in Algiers (Algeria)
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed Supra in Khartoum (Sudan)
  • Qazi Khalil Ullah in Moscow (Russia) (Appointment extended for another six months)
  • Imran Haider in Dushanbe (Tajikistan)
  • Ghulam Dastagir in UAE
  • Major General Abdul Aziz Tariq in Brunei
  • Major General Mohammad Khalid Rao in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Likewise,

  • Khalid Majeed has been appointed as Council General (Jeddah)
  • Ayesha Abbas as Council General (New York)
  • Moazzam Ahmad Khan as Special Secretary Foreign Affairs (Abu Dhabi)

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that these appointments are being made as per the directions of the prime minister.

The foreign minister expressed hope that the newly appointed diplomats would perform their duties to the best of their abilities. He hoped that the diplomats would improve Pakistan’s image worldwide, and especially they would demonstrate an excellent behaviour with the Pakistani Community.
