ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman of the Majles A’Shura of Sultanate of Oman Sheikh Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali has said that Pakistan has the status of a gateway for Oman to access to the Central Asian States.

Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali made these remarks while heading a parliamentary delegation of Oman in talks with the Foreign Minster Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Thursday.

During the talks, the two Countries agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy and trade in view of their geographical closeness.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the Pakistan and Oman can take the bilateral cooperation to the new heights by improving economic ties.

The foreign minister apprised the Omani delegation of the prevailing appalling situation in occupied Kashmir. He said that India has held Kashmiris hostage for four weeks through continuous curfew in contravention to the international laws and the UN Security Council resolutions. He said that the Modi regime has been subjecting elders, children and women to violence and tyranny showing fascism.

Qureshi said the entire International Community, particularly the Muslim World, will have to play their effective role to rid the armless Kashmiris of the atrocities of the Indian forces.

Expressing concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir, the Omani parliamentarian delegation said that the dream of progress in the region can be made a reality through peace.

The members said that Oman believes in resolution of issues and conflicts through talks.

Separately, the Omani Parliamentary delegation also met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday.

The prime minister apprised the visiting delegation about the plight of Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir and the atrocities being committed against the innocent Kashmiri Muslims by the Indian forces.

The two sides reiterated the need to further enhance bilateral trade ties and strengthen mutual cooperation in various fields.
