ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan to initiate talks to improve tense bilateral relations between the two Countries, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Monday.

While addressing a Press Conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said Imran Khan received a letter from his Indian Counterpart yesterday, in which, the latter felicitated the former on becoming the Country’s prime minister.

In the latter, according to Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Indian prime minister also voiced willingness to initiate Pak-India dialogue to resolve bilateral issues.

It is pertinent to mention here that Narendra Modi also held a telephonic conversation with Imran Khan on July 30 after the latter won general elections 2018, and while congratulating him on his victory desired to progressive ties with Pakistan.

Narendra Modi said that both Pakistan and India must adopt a joint strategy to develop and strengthen better ties.

Later on August 10, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria also met Imran Khan, and discussed range of issues and prospects of Pak-India relationship.

In his Press Conference, Shah Mehmood Qureshi also said that our foreign policy starts with and end at Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s foreign policy needs to be reviewed, and the direction of the Country’s foreign policy have to be mended.

Qureshi said that we want peace and stability in the region. He said that our priority is removal of poverty from Pakistan.

The foreign minister said that we will try to develop consensus over foreign affairs. He said that the government elected by the people will move forward as per their aspirations.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi also said that i would call the Afghan foreign minister and express my desire to visit Kabul once again. He said that i want to take solid message for Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan need each other.
