ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Kono will arrive in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan on January 3, 2018 which will help further cement bilateral ties between the two Countries.

During the visit, Taro Kono will hold wide ranging talks with the Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on bilateral issues, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said during his media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

Both sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interests.

The Japanese foreign minister will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. He will also meet other political leaders.

“Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Japan. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1952, Pakistan-Japan relations have steadily progressed in political, economic, trade and other fields,” Dr Faisal said.

Dr Faisal said that high- level bilateral visits have been a major component of this relationship. He said that Japan has also been a major development partner of Pakistan.

“It has played an important role in the socio-economic development of the Country,” the Spokesperson added.
