Foreign OfficeIndian fails to address OHCHR’s very serious concerns about Kashmir: FO

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office has said that India has failed to address the very serious concerns raised by Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) report on grave human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.

In his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said that we all know that OHCHR report on Kashmir has greatly upset the Indian efforts to project that all is well in Indian Occupied Kashmir as it is the first report of its kind that acknowledges and documents India’s widest human rights violations in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

Dr Faisal said that now, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has also endorsed the report, which is another blow to India’s farcical constructs about Occupied Kashmir.

The Spokesman further said that Indian attempts to call this report a motivated and ill-intended piece of work has been vociferously denied by the United Nations. He said that the UN calls India’s allegations, without proper examining of the report, deeply disappointing.

The Foreign Office Spokesman said that the OHCHR has also categorically denied the alleged contact between Human Rights Commissioner and one, Mr. Zafar Bangash. He said that OHCHR is disturbed by the sustained Indian attempts to distract and divert the focus from human rights atrocities in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

“Pakistan welcomes the visit by the Commission of Inquiry, as recommended in the report, to both AJK (Azad Jammu & Kashmir) and IOK (Indian Occupied Kashmir),” he added.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
