ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has convened a meeting of the Parliamentary leaders of all political parties in Islamabad on March 28 for consultations and to underscore Pakistan’s continued commitment to speedy implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).
The meeting of the Parliamentary leaders of all political parties will be held at 04:00 pm on March 28 at Committee Room No 2 in Parliament House, Islamabad, in which they will be briefed on the implementation of the NAP against terrorism.
The NAP was launched in the aftermath of the tragic attack on the Amy Public School (APS) in Peshawar in December 2014 to comprehensively deal with the scourge of terrorism.
The National Action Plan was a result of a national consensus achieved through consultations with all political parties of Pakistan.
While the Ministry of Interior is mandated to initiate action under the NAP domestically, it is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that deals with the related external dimensions.
These include adhering to our public commitment not to allow our soil to be used against any other Country, implementing our obligations to the United Nations Sanctions Regime and implementing international standards on Counter Terrorism Financing etc.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the speedy implementation of the National Action Plan is clearly in the long-term interest of the people of Pakistan.
