ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US President Donald Trump has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, and sought Pakistan’s support and facilitation to resolve the Afghan war, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

In his letter addressed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Donald Trump said that his most important regional priority was achieving a negotiated settlement of the Afghan war.

In this regard, he sought Pakistan’s support and facilitation, the Foreign Office said in a press release issued on Monday.

Donald Trump also acknowledged that the war had cost both the United States and Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistan and the US should explore opportunities to work together and renew partnership.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office welcomed the US’s decision, and said that Pakistan has always advocated a political settlement to end war in Afghanistan.

“Pakistan reiterates its commitment to play a facilitation role in good faith. Peace and stability in Afghanistan remains a shared responsibility,” the Foreign Office said.
