ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Reiterating Prime Minister Imran Khan’s unwavering stance on the Afghan issue, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that there was never a military solution to the conflict.
“No other Country has a greater interest in peace than Pakistan. A continuation of the conflict is not in our interest,” Qureshi said while addressing through video link the 6ixth Think Tank Forum on Afghanistan organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) on Thursday.
The foreign minister said that we consider all segments of society important in the overall construct of Afghanistan and we continue to support an inclusive setup as the best way forward.
It will open new vistas of cooperation at the regional and international level, and help realise our common objectives of a peaceful and prosperous region, he added.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi further said Pakistan continues to facilitate the international community in evacuations and humanitarian missions in Afghanistan. He said that we have a Special Inter-Ministerial Facilitation Cell for visa and arrival matters, and the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul is issuing visas on a fast-track basis. He said that visas on arrival are being issued at our international airports.
The foreign minister underlined the need for sustained engagement by the international community as shared responsibility to help Afghanistan on its path to peace, stability and prosperity.
Qureshi also said that Pakistan is committed to work together with the international community to advance shared objectives of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
