Foreign OfficeAssertions by Afghan envoy’s daughter proved wrong: IG Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman told on Monday that all assertions made by the Afghan ambassador’s daughter Silsila Alikhil turned out to be baseless as the investigation found no evidence to substantiate her alleged abduction.

Briefing the media along with the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the National Security Adviser Dr. Moeed Yusuf about the investigation carried out in the wake of the alleged abduction and assault of Silsila Alikhil in Islamabad, the IG police said that the Afghan ambassador’s daughter roamed around various areas in four taxies.

The IG police told that the Afghan ambassador’s daughter went to Rana market on foot from her house and then took a taxi to Khadda market.

Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman told that after reviewing scenes from 700 CCTV Cameras, it was established that the kidnapping of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter was a self-created drama.

The National Security Adviser Dr. Moeed Yusuf said that Pakistan is currently a target of hybrid warfare and an entire network of information warfare is being used against the Country.

Moeed Yusuf recalled that the EU DisinfoLab had exposed an India-based network of fake websites and media outlets doing propaganda against Pakistan.

The security adviser said that fake accounts and bots are being used to create a narrative against Pakistan including regarding the incident involving the Afghan envoy’s daughter.

Earlier in the outset, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi apprised the media about his today’s telephonic conversation with his Afghan Counterpart Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

Qureshi said that he shared with the Afghan foreign minister all the details related to the incident and its aftermath.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan himself took the notice of the incident, and is personally overseeing the investigation as the issue is very sensitive.

The foreign minister said that he asked his Afghan Counterpart to review the decision of pulling back their envoy. He said that Pakistan wants to maintain its bilateral engagement with Afghanistan.

Qureshi said that he told Hanif Atmar that the security of the Afghan diplomats and their family members have been beefed up, and that the Pakistani government intends to extend all-out cooperation to Afghanistan.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan doesn’t need to hide anything, and it will share with the Afghan government all the details of the ongoing investigation.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi assured that perpetrators will be exposed and brought to justice. He said that Pakistan wishes to share the facts with Afghanistan and the world community, and hold those responsible accountable.

Qureshi also urged the Afghanistan officials to cooperate with Pakistan as their cooperation is critical to solve the case and apprehend culprits.
