ISLAMABAD: In a bid to enhance power generation and reduce load shedding, the federal government has released Rs40 billion to the power sector, the finance ministry officials said.

   

The official said that out of this amount Rs23 billion were released to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to improve its cash flows. The remaining Rs17 billion were provided to the power companies for payments to the banking sector.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed the relevant quarters to ensure uninterrupted power supply at Sehr, Iftar and Traveeh and avoid unannounced load shedding.
