ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has announced holidays on 9th and 10th of Muharram-Ul-Haram .

The Country will have two public holidays on July 28 and July 29, 2023 on account of 9th and 10th Muharram.

In continuation of Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-02/2022-Min-II dated 23th December, 2022. It is for general information that the Prime Minister is pleased to declare 28th to 29th July, 2023 (Friday & Saturday) as public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1445 AH),” said the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday.Federal govt announces holidays on 9th & 10th Muharram; Notification issued

 

Meanwhile, the federal government under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan has decided to deploy Army in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) during Muharram-Ul-Haram.

Earlier, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Quetta on Tuesday evening under the Chairmanship of Moulana Abdul Khabir Azad for sighting the Crescent of Muharram-Ul-Haram 1445 Hijri.

The meetings of Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees were also held at their respective Headquarters at the same time.

However, the Muharram Crescent wasn’t sighted; therefore, it was announced that Youm-e-Ashur (10th of Muharram) would be observed on July 29 across Pakistan.
