ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives and devastation caused by torrential rains and flash floods in various parts of the country.

Presidential spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar says the president advised the federal and provincial government departments to undertake every possible effort in a concerted manner for providing relief to the rain hit people and evacuating those stranded in accumulated water in different parts of the country.

Expressing concern over the incidents of electrocution causing loss of many lives‚ the President stressed for immediate measures to ensure that no such incident occurs in future.

The President asked the authorities concerned to ensure that the outbreak of various water-borne diseases is also kept in check.

He advised that medical camps should be set up for the affected people to provide health-care facilities in case of any water-borne disease.

The President expressed confidence that the federal and provincial governments will do their best for the relief and rehabilitation of the rain and flood victims.

Meanwhile‚ Prime Minister has directed three federal Ministers to visit flood affected provinces.

He directed Rana Tanweer to visit Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa‚ Khurram Dastagir to Sindh and Lt. General Retired Abdul Qadir Baloch to Balochistan.

The Prime Minister advised them to draft recommendations for the immediate rehabilitation of affected families.
