Zardari granted exemption in assets reference case

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: An Accountability Court in Rawalpindi on Tuesday granted exemption to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former President Asif Ali Zardari from attending today’s hearing of assets reference case while adjourning the hearing until May 13.

The plea for Zardari’s exemption was filed by his counsel Senator Farooq H. Naek in the court on Tuesday, requesting the court to adjourn the hearing as his client was unable to appear before the court due to health reasons.

Later talking to media outside the court premises, Farooq H. Naek said in reply to a question that the former president had been implicated in a false and frivolous case.
