PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said work on implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) was fully underway in the province, saying maintaining law and order situation was the top priority of his government.

He said government and law enforcement agencies were on the same page on all important national security issues and his government was extending full cooperation to the Apex Committee.

The Chief Minister expressed these views while talking to various delegations and people belonging to various walks of life came to congratulate him on the occasion of Eidul Azha at his residence in Manki Sharif Nowshera.

The construction of Mass Transit system, DI Khan-Peshawar Expressway, Swat Motorway, Peshawar-DI Khan Railway Track, Chesma Right Bank Canal and hydle power projects would expedite pace of development in the province, he maintained.

“For me development is provision of quality health and education services, correcting police stations/Patwari culture and easy excess of people to get jobs on merit and inexpensive justice,” he said, adding self-respect of poorer, elimination of corruption and discouraging political interference in public sector organizations are in fact the real development as according to him it would directly benefit the common man.

The Chief Minister said the provincial government has taken revolutionary measures for ensuring good governance, extermination of corruption, supremacy of merit, impartial accountability system, saying that over 100 laws were passed and work on over hundred are in progress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that would provide direct relief to masses.

He said the government has already made legislation for police reforms aimed at to make it free from political influence and pressure, responsible and more effective.

A comprehensive check and balance system has been put in place to make police force accountable on complaints of masses. To keep close watch on police performance, he said, safety commission have been setup at district, regional and provincial level.

The Chief Minister said 30 percent developmental funds were transferred to local governments in the province to address problems of masses at their doorsteps.

Pervez Khattak said Rapid Bus Service was the main solution of traffic problems in Peshawar, saying work on this project would start in November this year.

He said a complete hockey stadium at Mardan Sports Complex with Astroturf facility costing Rs 67.69 million would help promote the national sport in the province. As many as 75 stadiums are being constructed at tehsil level and most of them were near completion.

The youth policy has been approved while the industrialists and businessmen have expressed satisfaction over the newly passed Mineral Act, he added.
