CHITRAL, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has no grudge against anyone and only believes in working together.

“We have no grudge against anyone,” he said while addressing a gathering from people of Chitral and adjoining area on Wednesday, adding that had there been any malice, the PML-N had not let other political parties to form governments in provinces.

Nawaz Sharif said that despite propaganda of opponents, the government’s journey of national development and prosperity would continue unabated.

“I neither take notice of those doing agitational politics, neither respond to them. People themselves give a better “reply” to such elements by not paying heed to their call,” he said.

The prime minister said that he could only pray for the guidance of such elements, adding “may Almighty give them a realization to instead focus their energies on making the country prosperous”.

Nawaz said that it was his dream that all political opponents unitedly work for the development of country.

The prime minister announced construction of a university, a 250-bed hospital under the PM’s Health Programme and several road links in Chitral.

In addition, he also vowed completion of Lowari Tunnel project by June next year, a project which has been lingering on since 1955.

70% construction work on Rs 26.9 billion Lowari Tunnel completed

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Lowari Tunnel project Mukaish Kumar told media that about 76 percent construction work on Rs 26.9 billion Lowari road tunnel had been completed and it would be ready by mid next year.

The deputy director of the project said that so far about Rs 18 billion had been spent on the 8.5kms project, being completed by Korean company SAMBU.

He attributed its fast-track completion to the keen interest of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The ambitious project, he said, being accomplished at the heels of mighty mountains, would improve communication linkage between Chitral and Dir by, alleviating miseries of commuters and improving living standards of the people.

Lowari Tunnel will be all weather road link between Chitral valley and the rest of the country, providing an opportunity to explore the hydro power potentials in Chitral valley.

The tunnel besides reducing poverty would provide better access to markets and become instrumental in the development of tourism industry of the country.

It will help greatly in tapping large potential area of mineral resources, forest product industries, fruits & agriculture, livestock and other mineral based industries.
