Lahore, Pakistan: All universities, colleges and schools will remain close on Monday and Tuesday in Islamabad and cities of Punjab.
According to provincial minister of Education Rana Mashud, universities, colleges and schools will remain close on Monday and Tuesday in Punjab.Meanwhile, Capital Administration has postponed examinations in Islamabad and closed down educational institutions.
It may be mentioned that protests by Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek have been spread all over Punjab and roads are blocked almost in every city. All main roads are closed in Lahore and Rangers are yet to be seen on roads despite their official deployment.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Shebaz Sharif consulted with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to review law and order situation in Punjab as main highways have been closed down by protesters. G.T Road and Motorway M2 are closed and there is no sign for their reopening.
Federal government is ready to initiate negotiations with Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek but Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek have refused to conduct any negotiation unless Federal Minister for Law Zahid Hamid and Minister for Science and Technology Anushay Rehman resign from their posts.
Federal government sought the deployment of Pakistan Army on Sunday evening in Islamabad as part of efforts to liberate the besieged Capital from religious protesters; however, the government’s orders haven’t yet been implemented.
On Friday, the Interior Ministry in “Pursuant to the request” made by the Islamabad administration, authorized deployment of troops of Pakistan army “under article 245 of the Constitution” to control law and order situation in the Federal Capital with immediate effect.
