South AsiaViolence against minorities exposes adverse face of India: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said recent acts of violence against minorities, especially Muslims have exposed adverse face of India and international community should take notice of this ruthlessness.

“I have serious concerns that international community is still silent on this violent attitude and human right violation committed by India as people are being burnt alive there,” he replied a question.

The Minister was talking to media persons after inaugurating a one-window operation in Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) which has been introduced to facilitate driving license seekers.

He said this is ultimate extremism on part of India and should be a cause of concern for the world.

Nisar said during Prime Minister’s recent visit to the United States, it was conveyed to the US leadership that there are double standards, as much hue and cry is made on minor incidents in Pakistan but the world community including the United States keep mum over burning alive of Muslims in India.

On issue of deported persons from abroad, the Minister said for the last several months another dangerous trend has emerged under which Pakistanis travelling abroad without documents are deported on charges of terrorism without verification whether they are actually Pakistanis or not.

He said Pakistan has suspended re-admission agreements signed with Western countries except United Kingdom because of its blatant misuse as Pakistanis were being packed back home without appropriate verification. Even in some cases the deportees were found innocent, he added.

He said under re-admission agreements signed in 2009-10, Pakistanis travelling illegally to any Western country were to be deported after proper verification. However, most of the countries are deporting them without verification by Pakistani authorities, and last year alone 90,000 people were sent back to Pakistan.

The Minister said no plane would be allowed to land in Pakistani soil until proper verification is done on their part and that countries share all the information with concerned Pakistani authorities.

With regard to arrests in Capital Development Authority (CDA), Ch. Nisar said he has clearly directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) not to disturb or arrest any innocent official.

He said basically this is a job of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but FIA is performing as an investigation agency.

He said CDA would not be allowed to become a centre of corruption and added this crackdown is against the corrupts.

Chaudhry Nisar hinted that the FIA would conduct a crackdown against big fish within next few days.
